Hidden Disabilities, Invisible Illnesses & Mental Health

Some disabilities and conditions are invisible. Outward appearances are not always reflective of a person’s access requirements. However visible your access requirements we want your visit to be accessible and welcoming. We also understand that a mental health condition or anxiety, whether long or short-term, can impact you visiting us.

This Website

On this website we’ll try to show the following information about our shows:

  • The running time of a show.
  • Any trigger and content warnings for a show.
  • Effects such as strobe lighting and loud noises.
  • Any accessible performances (for a full list of accessible shows click here)

We aim to keep the website as updated as possible, however this information isn’t always available so if you have any worries then please contact our box office team.

RELAXED PERFORMANCES AND CINEMA SCREENINGS

These are open to everyone but specifically designed to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed performance environment, be that due to an Autism Spectrum condition, a learning disability, or a fear of the dark, loud noises or confined spaces.

  • Lights will be on low
  • Volume will be turned down slightly
  • Relaxed attitude to movement and noise – you are welcome to come and go
  • Lighting affects may be toned down (e.g. strobe lighting)
  • Capacity may be lower (please check individual events)

Additional Information

You are welcome to bring any ear defenders, light sensitivity glasses, fidgets and comfort items with you to any of our performances.

Our staff have received Dementia Friends training

Our theatres generally open 20 minutes before the show starts, and cinema doors will open 15 minutes before the advertised screening start time. Due to the length of some films, they may start promptly on the advertised time, and not following 10 minutes of adverts. If this is the case, it will be clearly noted online and in the cinema programme.

We don’t have a designated quiet room, however, if you are in need of a quiet space please let a member of staff know to assist you
