Pontio & Theatr Clwyd's Christmas Trilogy
For three years running, Pontio and Theatr Clwyd have co-produced a brand new, original Welsh language Christmas show for younger children and their families. These include Llew a'r Crydd in 2018, Y Trol Wnaeth Ddwyn y 'Dolig in 2019 and Gwrach yr Iâ in 2020.
Llew a'r Crydd - 2018
Two siblings travel around the world collecting stories to stop them from getting lost. One Christmas Eve, unable to sleep knowing that Father Christmas is on his way, they tell a story, a story of Llew, a mean old cobbler, a magic elf, and a Princess who just wants to dance. Join us on a magical adventure, told through music, storytelling and the odd, and we mean odd, looking puppet.

Y Trol Wnaeth Ddwyn y 'Dolig - 2019
The two friendly characters Cwilsyn and Metso (performed by Sion Emyr and Sion Eifion) are back, but this time they’re joined by dancer and storyteller Ballera (Elan Elidyr), and together the three tell the tale of a troll that’s stolen Christmas and how being bold, bright and brave is what counts!

Gwrach yr Iâ - 2020
Cwilsyn, Metso and Balera are travelling again and this time tell the story of Vasilisa. Vasilisa is kidnapped by the Ice Witch. To escape she'll need all her courage, with help from friends of all kinds and her teddy bear!
It's wasn't possible to welcome audiences to Pontio to watch this production due to Covid-19, but schools were still given the opportunity to experience some Christmas magic! Gwrach yr Iâ was performed and recorded in Pontio's Studio and was available for schools to download and watch along with a creative workshop.
